Alexandra Ngo, MD, MPH. Child and adolescent psychiatrist. Adult psychiatrist. Therapist. Psychoanalyst. Analyst.

About Me

As a Houston native, I feel a deep connection to the individuals and families who call this city home. I completed my General Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where I now serve as an Assistant Professor. As a double board-certified Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, I am honored to care for individuals and families in the community that has long shaped me.

My practice is intentionally designed to provide personalized, unhurried psychiatric care, integrating evidence-based medication treatment with psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, I seek to understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that contribute to emotional distress. I believe meaningful, lasting change comes from addressing both immediate concerns and the deeper factors influencing emotional well-being.

I commonly work to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, shame, identity development, health related stress/adjustment, life transition challenges, including college/professional studies adjustment, motherhood, and parenting related issues. In addition to the psychodynamic and psychoanalytic roots of my practice, I draw upon evidence-based interventions (e.g., Mentalization Based Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help my patients build insight and take practical steps towards change.

Outside of my practice, I believe that movement is an important part of caring for both body and mind. You'll often find me running, strength training, practicing yoga, or exploring a new hiking trail. And because well-being extends beyond physical health, my favorite place to unwind is in the kitchen, where I enjoy cooking and sharing meals with family and friends.

My Approach

I work with children, adolescents and adults who are looking to experience more connection, hope, and meaning in their lives. I provide a space where you can explore and address your concerns, discover your true self, and live into a more whole-hearted life. I will journey with you to recognize the strengths you already possess, and provide support to uncover and face areas that need care, healing, and growth. I help you understand what you value most, navigate difficult feelings, overcome barriers of change, and foster a more clear, meaningful, and purposeful direction for life. It is neither too early nor too late to start your healing journey. We can begin the work, wherever you find yourself.
